Noosaville
Noosaville
Noosaville is all about waterfront living with the Noosa River on one side, its waters flowing around Munna Point to Weyba Creek on another, national park separating it from Lake Weyba and the Noosa Waters canal estate at its heart.
Old and original houses lining the riverfront along Gympie Terrace are gradually disappearing, but still paint a picture of times past. With pelicans bobbing about on a fleet of little fishing boats in the river and plenty of esplanade park land, it’s little wonder that it has been recognised as a picture perfect place to live for well over a century.
Noosaville is historically the key stopover point between Tewantin and Noosa Heads. When the first bridge was built over Weyba Creek in 1886, it was hailed as giving “direct access to the sea coast from the Gympie goldfield”.
It’s hard to imagine, but when the bridge was damaged by bushfire in 1902, regular land connection to Noosa Heads was cut until a new bridge opened in 1929. By then motor cars were increasingly being seen in the area.
As access improved, the people came and they never stopped coming. There were periods of substantial growth during the 1970s and 1980s and again from the 1990s as canal estates opened. At the 2006 census, Noosaville’s population density was 2.92 people per hectare in a land area of 2593 hectares.

Summing up: Noosaville is a major residential precinct with supporting schools, sports grounds and retail, commercial and industrial areas. Homes are a mix of lavish canalfront mansions, old fishing cottages and medium density blocks. Between Tewantin and Noosa Heads, its property can be pricey but it remains a pleasant place to raise a family and grow old.
