PALMVIEW
Palmview

Palmview is the surprise package of the Sunshine Coast. It barely made a blip on the property radar until, in 2009, it turned out to be the missing link in the Noosagatta chain, the last major residential development site between Noosa and Coolangatta.

Close to business, beach and the heart of the Sunshine Coast education precinct, this little speck on the map has the thriving Chancellor Park community on its borders and Meridan Plains closing in from the south.

It could easily be missed, between the Caloundra and Mooloolaba exits on the Bruce Highway, with little more than the Ettamogah Pub, a sawmill and a strawberry patch to call a commercial centre.

But that’s for now. It was identified by the State Government as one of Queensland’s 17 Greenfield sites for development – sooner rather than later.

Big plans for Palmview include local conveniences, outdoors spaces, recreation, leisure and sporting precincts, a village heart and a public transport system supported by cycleways and footpaths.

Accommodation choices will include freestanding houses, medium density apartments, duplexes and triplexes, all of them affordable and accessible, especially to employment opportunities.

Just 15kms south-west of Maroochydore, it has the Sunshine Motorway on its doorstep for quick coastal links, Landsborough railway station is just down the road and central Brisbane is within an hour’s commute.

Summing up: Palmview is much more about what is to be, than the present, and is crucial to facilitating future population growth in terms of accommodation, accessibility, affordability. It is seriously close to key road and rail links, as well as the university and private and public schools and will provide housing and employment for thousands as it is developed over the next two decades.
